"Green Eggs and Ham" by Robert Kapliow
for students in grades K-5.

Lara Troyer, Soprano
A "merry, whiz-bang romp through the Dr. Seuss classic" that seamlessly incorporates sophisticated references to familiar classical and popular music with a timeless parable about prejudice. Kapilow's crackerjack musical accompaniment to a psychological tug-of-war between a boy named Sam-I-Am and a character called the Grouch meets Dr. Seuss's touching and funny tale about overcoming everyday prejudice.

Available as a 30-45 minute presentation, based on length of introductory workshop materials presented.

"The Telephone" by Gian Carlo Menotti
for students in grades 6-12.

"The Telephone" is a one act comic opera which features a soprano, a baritone and a pianist. It runs about 30 minutes in length, and the performers are available for a question and answer period following the performance.

This show is available for morning or afternoon presentations beginning March 1, 2009.

We also offer a “Master Class” add-on for this production. For an additional fee, our professional musicians will work with your students to bring out their best singing, acting and piano playing. Call or email for more information.

When you book a performance of “The Telephone” through Opera Per Tutti, we will send along a teacher's guide to help prepare the students for the performance. The guide includes important information about the opera, the composer and opera singing, as well as suggestions on how to incorporate the opera into your curriculum.

"The Telephone" is a one act comic opera which premiered in 1947. It tells the story of Ben, who comes to visit his girlfriend Lucy at her apartment. Ben is about to go away on a trip, but wishes to propose marriage to Lucy before he leaves. Each time he attempts to ask for her hand in marriage, her telephone rings and she gets involved in a lengthy conversation. Worried that he will have to leave town before he ever gets to pop the question, he leaves the apartment and tries one last time to ask her, using a different approach. Working with technology, rather than against it, he calls her on his cell phone. She enthusiastically accepts his proposal and they sing a romantic duet over the phone line.
